Mahogany Bay
Roatan Cruise Terminal - Carnival Cruise Lines

GHES was proud to be awarded the electrical distribution and lighting sub-contract for Carnival Cruise Lines, Mahogany Bay Cruise terminal during 2009.

From the initial design stages through build-out the firm installed the overhead 15 kv feeder from the RECO mainline to the entrance and then installed the underground component to the complex itself including primary (15 Kv) instrument meter, back-up generator and all service LV transformers (480/277v and 120/208v) and feeders and all tenant HV transformers, LV feeders, metering and communications (telephone, CATV, CCTV). GHES also installed motor circuits for the Pixan-HA water treatment system and the fire-fighting water system.

We are particularly proud of the impressive public lighting system installation using the signature Niland poles and fixtures (HPS). In addition to the distribution we also did the wiring installation for 9 of the terminal tenant buildings.

Mahogany Bay
Cruise Terminal Dock
sub-contract under American Bridge

In 2009, GHES was also awarded the contract with American Bridge to provide lighting, controls, dolphin solar lights(with bird wires)and cathodic protection for the main dock at Mahogany Bay.

Utilizing special OGM navigation lights and specialty step-lights GHES also installed the solar power system for the specialty PEL sector light ( manufactured by VEGA in New Zealand ) and its respective air-terminal lighting protection on the same tower. This system is used to guide the cruiseships safely through the channel at Dixons Cove.

Mahogany Bay
Coral Cay
Existing system upgrade contract for Carnival Cruise Lines

As an extension of the Mahogany Bay complex, GHES was contracted by Carnival Corp to install a 15 kv feeder to the cay from the RECO grid as well as extend Hondutel telephone lines. The existing generators were tied-in to the new RECO feeder to provide back-up power.

Sub-metering was installed to register tenants power consumption and another PIXAN-HA treatment system was installed. Because the customer did not want the 15 kv lines underwater the 15kv cables were installed under the bridge inside rigid galvanized conduit coated with "Permacote" PVc covering; we also employed special Permacote strut reinforcement, Permacote rigid sleeves and elbows as well as clamps in order to provide a quality installation resistant to the corrosion of the cay enviroment.
